A GROUP exhibition by the resident artists of Cregg Castle Arts Venue opens in the Town Hall Theatre tomorrow at 6pm.

GMIT graduate art show opens this evening

Tonight Friday, June 8 at 6.30pm the final year students showcase a selection of mixed media paintings. This exciting exhibition of paintings by final year art students in GMIT Castlebar will open to the public from 6.30 pm. The exhibition of paintings in oil, acrylic, ink, mixed media, prints and photography will be opened by the Director of the Royal Hibernian Academy Patrick T Murphy in St Mary’s Hall on campus and will run until Friday, June 15.

Irish Times journalist and author John Waters was in Athlone yesterday to launch the 28th annual exhibition of the Athlone Arts Group. The exhibition is open this Friday December 2 from 10am to 7pm and Saturday December 3 from 10am to 4.30pm in the Prince of Wales Hotel.

Tulca Festival of Visual Arts reveals exciting line-up

THE TULCA Festival of Visual Arts 2011 kicks off on Friday next November 4. The festival will examine aspects of the recent fall-out in Ireland and internationally, by addressing artist responses to political, social, and economic collapse. Entitled ‘After the fall’ it will also consider re-imaginings of the future in the wake of these collapses. A range of well-known Irish artists will feature in this year’s programme, many of these artists engage with contentious issues in post-Celtic Tiger Ireland. Tulca runs until November 20 in galleries across Galway.

Art exhibition in Monivea

An exhibition featuring almost 50 original works by a selection of 10 local artists will take place in Cooke’s Yard, Monivea, from 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday August 28.

Expanse opens at the Upstairs Gallery

Dublin-based artist Martina O’Brien will present her exhibition Expanse in the Watergate Theatre, Upstairs Gallery from Friday 19th August to Friday 16th September 2011. The exhibition will be officially opened by on Thursday 25th August at 5pm.

Paintbox ’99 celebrates the talent of local artists with new exhibition

Paintbox '99 Art Group was formed by a group of women of diverse backgrounds and talents from Roscommon, with a shared love of creating art. For almost two decades this group has continued to meet regularly and also attend classes with established artists’ from the region. Working with various mediums including acrylic, oil, mixed media and watercolour, these artists' influences are wide and varying including the local landscape both natural and manmade, and flora and fauna. This July Roscommon Arts Centre welcomes Paintbox '99 as the first of a season of summer exhibitions by local Roscommon-based artists. The exhibition continues until Thursday July 28.
